Species:
Nephilim

Bio:
" Nephilim-cursed union of Angel and Demon. The Nephilim put countless realms to the sword, and burned them to ash."

Nephilim are an ancient and endangered race derived from both Angels and Demons by the Demon Lilith. The physical traits and powers of the Nephilim are quite diverse when compared to other races of the universe, save for their common humanoid shape. This may be owed to their unnatural creation at the hands of Lilith. Though they all retain a humanoid form, the appearance of the Nephilim can be wildly differentiated. Some possess remarkably human appearances aside from their size while others were known to have horns and even wings.
All Nephilim possess incredible physical prowess. At least two of the Horsemen are known to have more powerful forms they can take on, but Absalom, the only named Nephilim not aligned with the Council, displayed no such ability. Determining what abilities come naturally to a Nephilim is further complicated by never seeing one portrayed without some sort of outside influence.

The Horsemen gained power from the Charred Council and used abilities granted to them by other beings over the course of their journeys. Absalom, when encountered by Death, was utterly infested by Corruption and filled with its power. It is therefore impossible to accurately measure the scope of the Nephilim's ability.

The Nephilim left some of the deadliest and most powerful weapons in Creation as their legacy. Most of the Horsemen's weapons, including Death's scythe Harvester, were forged by the Nephilim along with many other potent weapons like the sword Affliction that inflicted poisonous wounds beyond the skill of Heaven's best healers. The most heinous of their creations were the Grand Abominations, world ravaging weapons crafted from the flesh and bone of the Ravaiim.

The Nephilim came into being by the hand of Lilith, who derived them from the mingled dust of angel and demon. Upon the first such being, Absalom, were all subsequent generations based.
Absalom led his kind on a world killing crusade beginning with the homeworld of the Ravaiim, who, under Death's advisement, were crafted into the Grand Abominations, weapons the Nephilim used to annihilate many worlds.
When the dust-formed Man was given Eden, the Nephilim were outraged. Believing Eden should have been theirs, they met the Archangels on the field of battle in an effort to claim it for themselves.

However, four among them grew tired of the long, world-killing conquest of their kind. Believing that, ultimately, the Nephilim's rampage could irreparably damage the balance, they made a bargain with the Charred Council. In exchange for immense power, the four were charged with the destruction of their remaining kin

"The eons have not answered the question: Was it worth it?"

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse:
are vastly powerful beings bound to the service of the Charred Council. The four Nephilim were granted their exceptional abilities in exchange for their oaths to serve the Council as enforcers of the Law and defenders of the Balance, their first task being the slaughter of the rest of their kind.

Absalom - "Have you ever wondered, Death, why you are untouched while those around you wither and rot in the grip of Corruption? Could it be that you are already blackened by the sin of betrayal? How can you defeat that which seethes in your own heart? You cannot stop me, without forever damning your soul!"

"If we had taken Eden, none of this would have happened. Yet you rode against us-slaughtered our flesh, then bound our souls in your amulet!"

The first of all Nephilim and leader of the race. He led the Nephilim across countless worlds, burning everything in their path until eventually they came to Eden. The Angels met his forces on the field of battle with the help of the Four Horsemen. Eventually Death defeated Absalom in single combat. Absalom then became Corruption, setting in motion events that would culminate eons later. In Darksiders 2, Absalom took on this role as Champion of Corruption and guarded the Well of Souls. When Death reached the Well, he defeated Absalom and killed him, ending his life and the threat of Corruption. He wielded the axe Absolution

Death-"All who live know my name, all who oppose me shall know Death"

Death is the eldest of the Horsemen and their leader. He wields the scythe Harvester, though he uses alternate weapons since Harvester cannot be utilized without the Council's permission. He is the main protagonist in Darksiders 2. Death's form is called "Reaper Form".

"Like his fellow Horsemen, Death is of a race known as Nephilim – among the most powerful beings in the Universe. When Mankind was given the prize of Eden, Absalom – leader of the Nephilim – led his armies against Heaven and Hell in an attempt to steal it back. For this crime, the Charred Council condemned the Nephilim to destruction. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were granted a reprieve from this fate on the condition they aid the Council’s victory over their kin. The Horsemen accepted, but it was Death who bore the greatest burden of guilt for the near extinction of his race. Donning his iconic mask to represent his role as executioner on the day he slaughtered his brethren, he has not removed it since."

Strife - "It's a good thing Death's damn near invulnerable you, on the other hand….."

One of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Strife is the Rider of the White Horse. He carries the handguns Mercy and Redemption. Strife does not waste time when it comes to business, and will make examples of people to teach a lesson to others. This is evidenced by how he silenced the demonic hordes who taunted the horsemen as they delivered a message to Samael, by shooting off the leg of one of the demons who yelled "Kill the Riders!".

Fury -"it's not your decision to make, The Council cannot be defied, brother.."

The only female horseman, she wields a fiery like whip along with a set of razor-sharp claws.

War - "You can look me in the eye when I kill you….."
The youngest Horseman and the main protagonist of the first Darksiders, he wields the sword Chaoseater. The Horsemen have the innate ability to transform into much more powerful forms for a short period of time. War's form is called "Chaos Form".

“The Horseman War has charged into countless battles astride his spectral steed Ruin, leaving trail of blood and bones in his wake. His eyes and hair are as white as the chill he casts on angels and demons alike, for the fury of his massive sword is unmatched in combat. As unyielding as time itself, War is both honorable and savage"

Personalities :

Death—
described as an arrogant, sarcastic, cold and calculating anti-hero who is resourceful and opportunistic. He has seen and done many things that could be considered immoral, ranging from genocide, the destruction of entire worlds and the creation of weapons of world-ending power. He doesn't wait for things to happen, rather, he causes them to happen. Death also appears to be quite cunning, as shown during the Abomination crisis. During the incident, he formulated an intricate plan, based on decieving both his ememies and allies, to destroy the Ravaiim blood needed to power the Abominations. The plan, though requiring the sacrifice of his own brother, succeeded entirely as he intended. He is very harsh on his brethren, as he was not hesitant in cutting off War's left arm in order to teach him a lesson.

As the Rider of the Pale Horse, he often appears somewhat morbid and ominous towards those who speak to him. He is starting to feel guilt for some of his past actions such as the creation of the Grand Abominations and the destruction of his fellow Nephilim. It should be noted that, despite his often abrasive nature, he is the only one of the Horsemen to feel remorse over the destruction of the Nephilim. In addition, he also felt terrible guilt and remorse for purposely allowing War to die as a result of his planning during the Abomination crisis, so much so that he could not bring himself to tell War the truth about what had happened after resurecting him.

Strife—
As the rider of the White Horse, Strife replaces his biblical counterpart, Conquest. What's more is that his sister Fury replaces the Horsemen Famine, so a possible name for his horse could be Conquest, due to the play on names the series creators perform. Another possibility for a Name would be something that literally "follows" after (a) Strife, just like Despair "follows" Death / Ruin "follows" War.

Strife appears to have the worst attitude of the Four Horsemen, he has shown himself to be stubborn, impatient, sarcastic, and rude. He also has a short temper, evidenced by his constant arguing with Death, although his temper does not seem to be as short as War's temper. He is also disagreeable with others, going so far he challenges Death's authority. Unlike War or Death, he does not show any arrogance. He also does not seem to care about the other three Horsemen as he threatened to kill Death because he did not like his plan to catch those with the Grand Abominations. War and Fury laugh at him when Death threatened to cut his tongue out if he did not stop making sarcastic remarks

Fury—
is one of the last of the Nephilim and a Horseman of The Apocalypse. She is the rider of The Black Horse . Fury wields a fiery whip as her weapon, and can also use her claws to tear at her enemies. Her whereabouts are unknown.

War—
has been described as the most honorable of the four horsemen. He demonstrates this in his sparing of Uriel and his unwillingness to kill the Watcher when Samael urged him, still holding loyalty to the Council at the time. War is normally characterized by a very serious attitude, rarely speaking unless necessary and quick to cut through banter to the heart of the matter. Beneath his stoic exterior, War is quick to anger and can be fearsome whenever someone provokes his wrath. However, among his fellow Horsemen, War seems more relaxed, as he shows during his time with Death. He openly talks and asks questions to his brother, and shows more trust in him than anyone else.

Biblical:
Apocalypse:
The Apocalypse is a belief that the world as we know it is coming to an end. In the Book of Revelation of the Bible, the Apocalypse is referenced. When the Apocalypse takes place, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse appear

Conquest: Rider of the White Horse

War: Rider of the Red Horse

Famine: Rider of the Black Horse

Death: Rider of the Pale Horse

Pestilence: Rider of the Green Horse

The First Seal--Conquest
1 Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, "Come."

2 I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.

1 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold the white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are omany diadems, and he has name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, sarrayed in fine linen, white and pure, twere following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and whe will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

The Second Seal--War

3 When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, "Come."

4 And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him

The Third Seal--Famine

5 When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come." I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.

6 And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine."

The Fourth Seal--Death

7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come."

8 I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

The Fifth Seal--Martyrs

9 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;

10 and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

11 And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also.

The Sixth Seal--Terror

12 I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood;

13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind.

14 The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

15 Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;

16 and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;

17" for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

The Seventh Seal
And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer [it] with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

4 And the smoke of the incense, [which came] with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] into the earth and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
are described in the last book of the New Testament of the Bible, called the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ to Saint John the Evangelist at 6:1-8. The chapter tells of a "'book', or 'scroll', in God's right hand that is sealed with seven seals". The Lamb of God, or Lion of Judah (Jesus Christ), opens the first four of the seven seals, which summons forth four beings that ride out on white, red, black, and pale horses. Although some interpretations differ, in most accounts, the four riders are seen as symbolizing Conquest, War, Famine, and Death, respectively. The Christian apocalyptic vision is that the four horsemen are to set a divine apocalypse upon the world as harbingers of the Last Judgment

The First Horseman
"I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come and see!" I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest."

The first horseman is often associated with military conquest. One interpretation, which was held by evangelist , casts the rider of the white horse as the Antichrist or a representation of false prophets, citing differences between the white horse in Revelation 6 and Jesus on the white Horse in Revelation 19. In Revelation 19, Jesus has many crowns, but in Revelation 6 the rider has just one.Irenaeus, an influential Christian theologian of the 2nd century, was among the first to interpret this horseman as Christ himself, his white horse representing the successful spread of the gospel.Various scholars have since supported this notion, citing the later appearance, in Revelation 19, of Christ mounted on a white horse, appearing as The Word of God. Furthermore, earlier in the New Testament, the Book of Mark indicates that the advance of the gospel may indeed precede and foretell the apocalypse.

The color white also tends to represent righteousness in the Bible, and Christ is in other instances portrayed as a conqueror.
However, opposing interpretations argue that the first of the four horsemen is probably not the horseman of Revelation 19. They are described in significantly different ways, and Christ's role as the Lamb who opens the seven seals makes it unlikely that he would also be one of the forces released by the seals.
Besides Christ, the horseman could represent the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was understood to have come upon the Apostles at Pentecost after Jesus' departure from Earth. The appearance of the Lamb in Revelation 5 shows the triumphant arrival of Jesus in Heaven, and the white horseman could represent the sending of the Holy Spirit by Jesus and the advance of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lion-like Living Creature
When the lamb broke the First Seal, the first, or "Lion-like Living Creature" cried with a voice of thunder—"come." The words "and see" are omitted in many manuscripts, and in the Revised Version. John had no need to come for he was already there. The command then of come was to the Rider of the White Horse. When he appeared, John says—

"And I saw, and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer."

Who is the rider upon this white horse? He is not Christ, as some claim, for Christ, as the lamb is holding the "Seven Sealed Book" and breaking its "Seals." Christ does not appear as a White Horse Rider until chapter 19:11-16, when He comes with the armies of Heaven to engage in the Battle of Armageddon. Then He is called "Faithful and True"and on His head there is a many "Diademed crown and He is clothed in a vesture dipped in blood, and His name is called the "word of god" and there is no weapon of warfare in His hand, but a sharp sword comes out of His mouth, and the effect upon His enemies will he swift and terrible.

This "Rider" has a bow, no arrow is mentioned, and he is not crowned at first, but a crown will be given to him later, the "Stephanos" or "Victor's Crown," as a reward for his victories which are prolonged and bloodless. This is the picture of a brilliant, strategical, and irresistible conqueror, whose victories will dazzle the world, and elevate him to a leadership that will place him at the Head of the
Ten Federated Kingdoms of the revived Roman Empire. As a subaltern, like Napoleon I, he will rise from the ranks until a crown will be given him. His triumphs will be due to his skilful diplomacy. Like Antiochus Epiphanes, his prototype, he "will come in peaceably, and obtain the Kingdom by flatteries."
Dan. 11:21.
As the "Tool of Satan" he will be endowed with wonder working powers, and when he comes, he will find the world ready to receive him, for God will send upon its inhabitants a "strong delusion" that they will believe a lie, or "the lie," for that is what he will be. 2.
Thess. 2:9-11.
In other words this White Horse Rider is the Antichrist . He is the "prince who is to come" of Daniel's Vision of the "Seventy Weeks," and who will confirm the Covenant for "one week" the last or "Seventieth Week," with Daniel's people the Jews. Dan. 9:27. This Covenant will probably be the privilege to return to Palestine and rebuild the Temple and re-establish their sacrificial form of worship, and national existence, in exchange for the financial assistance of the Jewish bankers of the world in his schemes of establishing world wide commerce, and the formation of a gigantic corporation, with its commercial centre in the rebuilt city of Babylon, so that no one can buy or sell unless they have his "mark," (the "Mark of the Beast," Rev. 13:16-17), for we are told in Dan. 8:23-25, that "through his policy also he shall cause craft (manufactories) to prosper in his hand."

The rise of this White Horse Rider necessarily antedates the beginning of the "Seventieth Week," or the "seven years" of his reign, for he must have reached a position of power to make a Covenant with the Jews at the beginning of the "week," but he does not become "the beast," as described in chapter 13:1-8, until the "Middle" of the week, that is, until after Satan is cast out of the Heavenlies and incarnates himself in him. His rise to power and the rebuilding of Babylon will take time, so the Rapture of the Church will doubtless antedate the beginning of the week by some years.

But while the establishment of the Antichrist's power will be comparatively peaceful, that peace will be shortlived as is evident from the breaking of the "Second Seal."

This "White Horse Rider" will be Satan's "superman." The Scriptures clearly teach that there is some day to arise a human being who shall be the embodiment of all Satanic power. He will be known as the "willful king" because he shall do according to his own will. He will be the Czar of Czars. He will have no respect for sacred things or places. He will cause a throne to be erected in the Most Holy Place of a Temple that the Jews will build at Jerusalem, and, seating himself upon it, he will proclaim himself God, and men will be commanded to worship him; and Satan will give unto him his power and his seat (Throne) and great authority. All this will be fully brought out under the "Sixth Personage," the "Beast Out of the Sea,"

The Antichrist comes from the bottomless pit. In Revelation we are told twice that the Beast Spirit which will indwell the Antichrist comes from the bottomless pit, also known as “the deep” or “the abyss” in Scripture. Revelation 11 gives this detail in relation to the murder of the two witnesses:

"And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth… And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them". – Revelation 11:3,7.
Revelation 17 provides the second confirmation:

"The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out
of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is."-
Revelation 17:8.
The Antichrist, going just by Scripture, is never in Heaven. It is clear, that at present, he, or at least his spirit, resides in the bottomless pit. Therefore an interpretation that has him coming to Earth from Heaven, contradicts Scripture. Thus there very clear, scriptural reason to reject that “1st rider is Antichrist” interpretation.

Jesus’ prophecies in Matthew 24 lines up with the seals of Revelation 6.
Matthew 24 is a profoundly detailed series of prophecies given by Jesus Christ directly to His disciples. It is a parallel passage to Revelation 6. In it, The Lord Jesus describes the first four horsemen:

"And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." – Matthew 24:3-8.
In the same order as listed in Revelation chapter, 6,
Jesus describes each of the first four seals. And the first seal’s horseman is a spirit of False Christs and religious deception. Jesus confirms the same in Mark 13 and Luke 21, which also contained end-times prophecies:
"For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet." – Mark 13:6-7.

"And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by"
. – Luke 21:8-9.
In all 3 passages, Jesus identifies the first and second riders in their appropriate order and the identity of the first horsemen is clear: a group of “many” false Christ figures who will deceive many people in the world (the fact that there are many of these figures is yet another reason why interpreting the Rider of the White horse as the Antichrist, an individual man, fails). What is also emphasized is that when this seal’s horseman is released onto the world, it is not the end times.
The end times have not started at this point. This also harmonizes with what we see in Revelation 5 and 6, since John sees Jesus take the book right after His resurrection and Ascension. The book is opened right after Jesus took the throne, almost 2000 years ago.
Thus the first horse is a spirit of false religion led by leaders who claim to be Christ or come in Christ’s name, deceiving their followers. And certainly, since the first centuries, many false Christ figures and systems have continually raised up in society, most notably, the long line of popes of the Catholic Church.
These men use the title “vicar of Christ” which means:
“a title of the pope implying his supreme and universal primacy, both of honor and of jurisdiction, over the Church of Christ.” — The Original Catholic Encyclopedia, 1918. (source).
Roman Catholicism, a religion fraught with many unbiblical practices, has been a chief promoter for over 1,000 years of the worship of a line of men who claim the title of “substitute Christs” in charge of the entire church on Earth. And this is just one example of the false Christs prophesied by Jesus, among many.
The Apostle John, the longest living of all the Twelve Disciples, wrote of this same spirit operating at the time of his epistle:

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you". –
1 John 2:18-26.

Although written in the first century, the Apostle John already identified the spirit of false Christianity that was operating in the church. This “tribulation” to be experienced by the Church was so widespread, John called the early false deceivers “antichrists” – foreshadows of the final Antichrist of the Great Tribulation. This early precursor to the Great Tribulation is referred to as “the last time”, matching with the angel who told Daniel the sealed book would be opened at the time of the end. Thus he exhorts the reader to hold onto the Biblical Gospel and not be seduced by this spiritual infiltration.
So in short, by comparing Scripture, the First Horseman can properly be identified as a spirit bringing false Christ figures and massive spiritual deception into the world. This spiritual deception is a “tribulation” that the Church has and will continue to endure until the Rapture. Declaring the first rider on the white horse the Antichrist, while convenient for making an end-times timeline (since it seems logical the release of the Antichrist would kick off the end times events) is not accurate and in fact a private interpretation, because it is not confirmed anywhere else in Scripture.
"Children, it is the last hour! As you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. From this we know that it is the last hour"
."Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh; any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist!"
"Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son."

"By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world."As to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we beg you, brothers and sisters, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as though from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here. Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one destined for destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God."

— 2 Thessalonians 2:1–4 NRSV (1989)

"For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but only until the one who now restrains it is removed. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will destroy with the breath of his mouth, annihilating him by the manifestation of his coming. "The coming of the lawless one is apparent in the working of Satan, who uses all power, signs, lying wonders, and every kind of wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved."

The Second Horseman
"When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come and see!"Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword."

The rider of the second horse is often taken to represent War or mass slaughter. His horse's color is red (πυρρός, from πῦρ, fire). In some translations, the color is specifically a "fiery" red. This color, as well as the rider's possession of a great sword, suggests blood that is to be spilled
The second horseman may represent civil war as opposed to the war of conquest that the first horseman is sometimes said to bring. Other commentators have suggested it might also represent persecution of Christians.

comparison with Jesus’ own prophecies of the end times in Matthew 24, the second horseman is given power to “take peace from Earth, and that they should kill one another..” In describing this seal, Jesus said:
“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” (Matthew 24:6-7).

the second horseman is given the power to remove peace from the Earth.
Certainly, since the first century, the world has seen endless warfare, seeing its peak with the devastation and unprecedented bloodshed of the 20th and 21st centuries.
While this is alarming, Scripture warns that this is not the start of the end times, but merely the prelude leading up to the Day of The Lord:

“But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.– Luke 21:8-9. Thus the Second Horseman is a spirit of warfare that plagues the Earth with bloodshed right up until the end times."

Calf-like Living Creature
There is no need to tarry long with this seal. When it was broken John heard the second, or "Calf-like Living Creature" say, "Come," and a "red horse" appeared and went forth, whose Rider was given a "great sword," and who had power to take peace from the earth, and cause men to kill one another. The symbolism is very clear. Red, the color of the Horse, is a symbol of blood, and the sword is a symbol of war. The time is clearly that prophesied by Christ—

"And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars . . . for nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom."
Matt. 24:6-7. This seems to imply that the Antichrist will not have everything his own way, and that his Autocratic methods will lead to insubordination and civil wars among the nations under some great leader represented by the Rider of the Red Horse, whose great sword is symbolical of the awful destruction of human life that will follow.

This is a fulfillment of 1. Thess. 5:3. "When they shall say peace and safety ; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."
We learn from this "Seal" that wars are likely to break out at any time and that there will be no peace on the earth until the return of the "Prince of Peace."

The Third Horseman
"When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come and see!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"

The third horseman rides a black horse and is generally understood as Famine. The horseman carries a pair of balances or weighing scales, indicating the way that bread would have been weighed during a famine. The indicated price of grain is about ten times normal, with an entire day's wages (a denarius) buying enough wheat for only one person, or enough of the less nutritious barley for three, so that workers would struggle to feed their families.
Of the four horsemen, the black horse and its rider are the only ones whose appearance is accompanied by a vocal pronunciation. John hears a voice, unidentified but coming from among the four living creatures, that speaks of the prices of wheat and barley, also saying "and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine". This suggests that the black horse's famine is to drive up the price of grain but leave oil and wine supplies unaffected (though out of reach of the ordinary worker). One explanation for this is that grain crops would have been more naturally susceptible to famine years or locust plagues than olive trees and grapevines, which root more deeply.] The statement might also suggest a continuing abundance of luxuries for the wealthy while staples such as bread are scarce, though not totally depleted. such selective scarcity may result from injustice and the deliberate production of luxury crops for the wealthy over grain, as would have happened during the time Revelation was written.Alternatively, the preservation of oil and wine could symbolize the preservation of the Christian faithful, who used oil and wine in their sacraments.
the oil and the wine!"The Third Seal Horse brings famine to a major portion of the world.
"And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine."
– Revelation 6:5-6.

The Third Horseman brings famine and starvation to the world. The “measure of wheat” was the equivalent of the average amount of bread a working man would eat in a day, while a penny, or denarius, was the average pay for a day’s wages. So a working man could afford just enough bread for one person, with nothing to add to it, rendering him unable to feed his family.
Jesus described this judgment succinctly:
“..and there shall be famines”
(Matthew 24:6).
“and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.” – Mark 13:8.
Famine has certainly stricken much of the Earth today, as many impoverished people all over the world struggle to find food to survive. This tribulation has been experienced for centuries and certainly will not slow down any time soon, unfortunately.

Man-like Living Creature
When the third seal was broken John heard the third or "Man-like Living Creature" say--"Come," and a "black horse" appeared and went forth, whose Rider held in his hand a "pair of balances," and John heard the voice of an invisible person in the midst of the "Four Living Creatures" say--"A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny, and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine." The black horse signifies famine, and the Rider the "Conserver of Food." When all able bodied men are drafted for war, and no one left to sow and harvest the crops, then famine is sure to follow. So great will be the famine, that it will take a denarius a day's wages, to buy a choenix (2 pints) of wheat," the daily ration of a slave. What is meant by not hurting the oil and wine, may be, that as the Olive tree and grapevine do not bear their fruit until some months after the wheat and barley harvest, and grow without much attention, their crops would not be so much affected by war, and therefore the Olive trees and grapevines were not to be ruthlessly destroyed by invaders for they were needed for medicinal purposes.

The Fourth Horseman
"When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come and see!" I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hell was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine, and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth."

The fourth and final horseman is named Death. Known as "the pale rider; of all the riders, he is the only one to whom the text itself explicitly gives a name. Unlike the other three, he is not described carrying a weapon or other object, instead he is followed by Hades. However, illustrations commonly depict him carrying a scythe (like the Grim Reaper), sword, or other implement.
The color of Death's horse is written as khlōros in the original Koine Greek,[ which can mean either green/greenish-yellow or pale/pallid. The color is often translated as "pale", though "ashen", "pale green", and "yellowish green" are other possible interpretations (the Greek word is the root of "chlorophyll" and "chlorine"). Based on uses of the word in ancient Greek medical literature, several scholars suggest that the color reflects the sickly pallor of a corpse. In some modern artistic depictions, the horse is distinctly green.
The verse beginning "they were given power over a fourth of the earth" is generally taken as referring to Death and Hades, although some commentators see it as applying to all four horsemen.

The pale horse and its rider bring death in various forms to a “fourth part” of the Earth. This distinction is important –as many end times commentaries interpret this rider bringing death and destruction to the entire planet. Rather than killing a set amount of people, this spirit has regional authority over a specific section of the planet to inflict death through violence, starvation and disease. Jesus described this rider as “pestilences.” Plagues such as smallpox, have taken the lives of millions since the centuries before Christ on Earth. Typhus, the Black Plague and in more modern times, malaria and AIDS have killed hundreds of millions of people. In Africa, approximately 25 million people are HIV positive, with certain nations (for example, Liberia and Swaziland) having a staggering 25% of their population infected. At the same time regional wars and ethnic cleansing campaigns like those carried in Rwanda have killed millions. Certainly a large portion of the planet is suffering under the strain and devastation of this judgment.

Eagle-like Living Creature
When the fourth seal was broken John heard the fourth, or "Eagle-like Living Creature" say--Come," and a "pale horse" appeared and went forth. Note the corpse-like color of the Horse. We are not surprised then when the Rider upon the pale horse is called death and that hades, the grave not hell, follows after death like a great Voracious Monster to swallow up the victims of death. It is worthy of note that the Riders of the first three Horses are not named, but it will be very clear when the events they chronicle occur, who and what is meant. Here however the Rider is personified and called death, and his consort is called hades, they are inseparable companions. The reference here is clearly to some great pestilence that shall come upon the earth. After a devastating war, followed by famine, during which the dead are left unburied, a pestilence is sure to follow. The fourth part of the earth over which the pestilence shall sweep will probably be that part of the Eastern Hemisphere covered by the revived Roman Empire. great will be the destruction of human life in the days of the fourth seal that hades will have to enlarge himself and open his mouth without measure, as foretold in Isa. 5:13-16. The means of destruction mentioned--the sword, hunger, death, and the beasts of the earth.

Revelation:
In Revelation Chapter 6 the Apostle John witnesses of Jesus Christ opening a 7-sealed scroll. The first four seals, when broken, each unleash a rider on a colored horse, sent to Earth for a specific purpose. Known popularly as ‘The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse’, there has been much debate over who or what these horsemen are. This article will show, by letting the Bible define itself, that these horsemen are spiritual forces that have been on the Earth since the first day of the Church age until the Rapture of the Church and the start of the Great Tribulation.

To fully understand the context of the sealed scroll being opened, we have to go back to Revelation chapter 5, where the book is first given. The Apostle John was caught up to Heaven and given access to see God’s Heavenly throne room. A detailed description of this room is given in Chapter 4. John is standing before God Almighty. And in Chapter 5, we see the seven-sealed book:
"And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. "
this passage, the 7 sealed book is held by The Lord but no one is found who is worthy of to open. Verse 3 states that no one worthy was found “in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the Earth.” Now it is Jesus Christ who of course is worthy to open the book. So why does verse 3 say this? It is because John is seeing this play out right before the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. John is seeing what for him, would be going into the past. This is critical to understand. Jesus Christ, in Revelation 1, instructs John to:
“Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter..”
This is a reference to the past, present and future. So going back to the throne room, John sees Jesus enter Heaven after His resurrection, when He conquered death and the grave and won salvation for all who believe in Him.
If this was decades after the Resurrection and ascension of Christ to Heaven, why would the angel say “no man” could be found anywhere worthy to open the Book? Jesus’ victory and atonement on the cross made the only man in the universe worthy to open it. And John is there to witness the scene in Heaven at the moment Jesus returns to Heaven, His earthly mission completed. The angel who is speaking to John confirms this saying: “Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” There can be no question that this is referring to Jesus. And His victory earned Him the role of receiving the Divine book.
It is this author’s contention that this seven sealed book is the same book the prophet Daniel is told to seal until the time of the end in Daniel 12. At two points an angels instructs Daniel to:

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. …And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. "

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
This is critical – the Holy Spirit teaches us that we are to compare Scripture (which is spiritual) with Scripture. So in order to divide a passage that is prophetic, there should be some confirming Scripture elsewhere in the Bible. In the case of the colored horses and their riders, we find that confirmation in Zechariah Chapter 6.

"And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord? And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the lord of all the earth."

Throughout the book of Zechariah, the prophet encounters beings and creatures from the spirit realm. In Chapter 6, he is converses an angel. And from between two “mountains of brass” come forth a group of chariots with horses. As is often the case when a prophet encounters an angelic being or sight that is confusing, The Lord, in His mercy, has an angel to provide the explanation for us. The chariots and their horses are spirits that stand before God. They are spirit realm beings manifesting as a chariot and horses when they come to Earth. And their appearance happens to correspond to the colors of the horses we see in the first four seals of Revelation. (B&E: the color “grisled and bay”, can mean grayish, which is similar to “pale” in Revelation. Pale does not mean “white”, it means grayish or sickly looking. In the Septuagint, the fourth horse in Zechariah is called “ash-colored.”)
In Zechariah Chapter 1, the prophet sees colored horses and inquires as to who they are and receives similar confirmation:

"I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white. Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be. And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth. And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, "We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest"

The word consistency of the King James Bible is never a coincidence. These four colored horses of Zechariah 6 are the same type of beings released at the first four seals of Revelation 6 otherwise known as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. This is how Bible prophecy is to be interpreted, by comparing Scripture with Scripture. In no other place in the Bible do we find spirit-realm horses. Thus it is clear that these are spirit realm beings who carry out certain tasks on earth for The Lord.

"Our Father, which art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done,
in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen."
